Apple is always looking for better ways to make it easier for their users to access their devices making it more fancy and luxurious unlike other flagship brands – let sleeping dogs lie.
Apple has now rolled out its iOS 14.5 which has come with luxurious features to fit in the current situation of the novel Coronavirus and the wearing of masks.
iOS 14.5 has come with the potential ability for any iPhone user with an Apple Watch to actually unlock their phone using the watch even when wearing a face mask – Damn!!!
Remember, iPhone’s Face ID doesn’t have the capability to open the phone when one has a face mask, requiring holders to always punch in the passcode. However, that has fully changed – As long as your phone and watch are in close proximity, you will be able to unlock your iPhone just by turning on the screen.
But first, you have to upgrade and be officially running iOS 14.5 (and watchOS 7.4) to enable the feature that lets you unlock your iPhone with your watch.
Here’s what you need
- An iPhone that uses Face ID (iPhone X or later) and has iOS 14.5 or later.
- An Apple Watch Series 3 or later with watchOS 7.4 or later.
- Your Apple Watch needs to be paired with your iPhone.
- Your iPhone and Apple Watch need to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on.
- Your Apple Watch needs to have a passcode, and wrist detection must be turned on.
- Your Apple Watch needs to be on your wrist and unlocked.
- You need to be wearing a mask that covers your mouth and nose.
How to set up Unlock with Apple Watch
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap Face ID & Passcode, then type your passcode.
- Scroll down to Unlock with Apple Watch, then turn on the feature next to your watch’s name. If your watch doesn’t have wrist detection enabled, you’re asked to turn it on.
How to unlock your iPhone with your Apple Watch
- Make sure that you’re wearing a mask and that your Apple Watch is on your wrist and unlocked.
- Wake your iPhone by raising it or tapping its screen.
- Glance at your iPhone to unlock it. Then you can slide up from the bottom of your iPhone screen to begin using it.
Now that you have it all, let’s get rolling!!!
